Jim Balabuszko-Reay is a composer living in Edina Minnesota

He is a member of several bands and also does composition for video, dance, and theater

Composer,
Synthesist, Drummer

Jim’s been writing music since 1984. It’s what he does,

It all started when a family friend lent teenaged Jim a Moog Prodigy. He spent hours exploring it and was hooked on synthesis. His first two keyboards - A Yamaha DX9 and Roland Juno 106 were his stack for high school band gigs…. and the setup kept evolving.

In 1987, he started composing using a Macintosh SE running MOTU Performer, and sequencing live shows. He became known as “the guy who would do music for your thing”

Fast forward to 2022: Jim is an active member in three bands, has released over 40 songs in the past two years, with more to come in the works, and has begun work on an ambitious new project…. a musical!

PS - people also call him Jim B-Reay, or just JimB. It’s fine.

“You can never have too many synthesizers”
